The Clouds All Seem So Out of Place

Crocodiles are back again with a new record due out in September called Sleep Forever, and they've already given out the title-track first single. It's a blistering piece of sun-burned pop with a shoegaze shimmer, and a great step forward from last year's terrific album Summer of Hate. I couldn't be more proud of their success.

It's a real interesting contrast, yet shows how the root of the song is wrapped up in several vocal melodies more than any other actual instrumentation shifts. It brings to mind the approach adopted by many of the pop groups of the 60's, which shouldn't be surprising considering the adoration Crocodiles have expressed for this time period in music.

It's safe to say “Sleep Forever” is my official anthem for this Summer, much like “I Wanna Kill” was the same for the last one.

Sleep Forever (album) is out 9/14 on Fat Possum, while the single is slated for release some time in mid-August.
